Blessed bird protector?

Last Wednesday, Medel and I joined Councilor Leo Avila in an owl retrieval. A group of kids reportedly caught an owl and their neighbor took the owl from them and reported the incident to the councilor. It turned out to be a sub-adult grass owl.

Late that afternoon, Medel, Joseph and I joined Councilor Avila during the release of the bird at Davao Memorial since there was a good patch of green there.

Before we released the bird, I asked what the owl's name was. Councilor Avila said, "Camille". hahaha...

Yesterday, we went on yet another bird retrieval. This time, we went to Kidapawan, about 3 hours away from Davao City. The team was composed of myself, Dodong, Kuya Edison and Mang Doming. We already had suspicions that it wasn't a Philippine eagle, but since it was a chick, we decided to go ahead and rescue the bird.

Kawawa naman. When we saw it, it was so stressed. And the DENR people didn't know how to handle the bird so they just kept on lifting it, and forcing it to stand. HELLO!!! It's only about two months old! You try making your two month old baby stand and see how you feel! Anyway, they were well-meaning. They just didn't know how to handle the bird.

We told them we would like to take the bird with us and keep it at the Center. It had no where else to go anyway. Wala namang rescue center ang DENR. So after consulting the Regional office, they let us take the bird.

While on our way home, biglang tumugtog yung Pamela 1 ek-ek song. Then Dodong started singing:

:sing:CAMELA 1 blah blah blah :sing:
:sing: CAMELA 2 blah blah blah :sing:

NGARKS!! hehehehe....

Then, biglang... something warm splattered all over us! The eaglet made poopoo. And the poopoo ricocheted off the styrobox and splattered on Dodong and myself since we had the box between us. HAHAHA... YUCK!! I had poopoo on my left sleeve. They say you're blessed if you get bird poo. Dodong must be so blessed by now since he had bird poo on his face. hahaha.. Laugh trip during our road trip.

Naturally, I named the eaglet Poopoo. hahaha... It was so fun. Kahit na yakadiri.
